About the Society
A registered welfare society of, by and for the visually challenged community of Visakhapatnam and Andhra Pradesh.
Rising together for vision & dignity
The Rising Helen Keller Visually Challenged Welfare Society was formally registered in 2025 (Reg. No. 561 of 2025) and operates from a community hall in Appughar, Sector-9, Visakhapatnam — a space members proudly call their second home.
Inspired by the life of Helen Keller, the society is led by visually challenged persons themselves. President Sri B. Ramana and a nine-member executive committee guide our programs in education, livelihood training, healthcare access and community advocacy.
We work closely with the District Welfare Office, local hospitals, schools for the blind and well-wishers across Andhra Pradesh to ensure no visually challenged citizen is left behind in accessing the rights and opportunities they deserve.
Our Mission
To empower every visually challenged person in Andhra Pradesh with education, dignified livelihood, healthcare and a strong community voice.
Our Vision
A society where lack of sight is never a barrier to independence, opportunity or respect — and where every voice is heard.
President's Message
"Wise people find purpose by serving others. Our society is built on this single belief — that when we stand together, no darkness can keep us from rising."
— Sri B. Ramana, President
